Rev. Marion H. Knoell, 90 of Fremont, died Tuesday. Jan. 21, at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. He was born Sept. 16, 1934, in Omaha to Harvey and Shirley (Elliott) Knoell.
Marion grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fremont Senior High School, Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, and St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri. Marion married Janet Marks on June 5, 1956, in Winslow, Nebraska. He began his Methodist ministry at Bartlett and Erickson, Nebraska, and served churches In Denison, Kansas, Wilbur and Claytonia, Grant, Madrid, Superior, Tekamah, Decatur, O’Neill and Inman, all in Nebraska. After retirement, he served as chaplain at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha from 1997 to 2019. He and Janet have lived in Fremont since 1997.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Calvary United Methodist Church in Fremont.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Estelle Knoell; and brother, Alfred Knoell.
He is survived by wife, Janet of Fremont; daughters, Becky (Bruce) Aurand of Hastings, Minnesota, and Karen (Del) Stallwood of Elkhorn, Nebraska; sons, Kevin (Jennifer) Knoell of Superior, and Brian Knoell of Falun, Kansas; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
His funeral was at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Fremont. Burial followed the service at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
