Jacqueline Wiedel

Jacqueline "Jackie" Jo Wiedel died peacefully with her family by her side on Jan. 23, 2025, at Courtyard Terrace Assisted Living in Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 83.

Jackie was born on Nov. 30, 1941, to Benjamin and Irma (Mein- hold) Headrick in Alexandria, Nebraska. She attended school in Daykin until her junior year and graduated from Hebron Public Schools, where she was a cheerleader and proudly crowned Sports Queen her senior year.

On May 28, 1960, Jackie married her high school sweetheart, Roger Wiedel, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron. Together, they built a loving family, raising nine children, welcoming eight in-laws and being blessed with 31 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Over the years, the Wiedel family has multiplied to an incredible 101 members, a testament to the strong foundation Jackie and Roger created.

A devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Jackie served her parish with unwavering faith and dedication. She held roles such as Altar Society president, taught preschool CCD, and selflessly supported the church and its parishioners through countless meals and events. Her devotion to her faith was reflected in her service to others.

Jackie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, embodying kindness, selflessness and the Golden Rule in her daily life. She worked tirelessly for her family, rising early to tackle the daily tasks. Jackie took great pride in her garden.  Her canned pickles and homemade raspberry jelly became treasured favorites for the entire family.

Her family remembers the love and care she poured into every meal she prepared. Jackie's full-course breakfasts, lunches, and dinners were legendary, and the hired hands on the farm often claimed the best part of working for Roger was enjoying Jackie's cooking.  After Sunday Mass, Jackie had an incredible ability to quickly prepare a meal and feed a house full of people, making everyone feel welcome.

Jackie and Roger shared a love for playing cards with their friends, creating many fond memories and lifelong connections around the card table. Jackie especially enjoyed playing bridge, cherishing the camaraderie and joy those gatherings brought her.

Jackie leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of devotion-to her faith, her family, and her community.

She will be cherished and forever remembered by those whose lives she touched as a true servant.
