Michelle and Kevin Kline are the parents of Cassidy Huston. Cassidy is a senior at Lawrence-Nelson High School, and will be attending Air Force basic training in Texas after graduation.
Cassidy was born in Colorado. She lived in Las Vegas and Indiana before moving to Nelson. As a child, she liked participating in outdoor activities. Camping, hiking and target shooting with her gun and bow and arrow, were some of the activities she enjoyed. She has attended Lawrence-Nelson High School for more than three years. Cassidy's grandparents, Deb and Steve Trout, Amy and Terry Clark and David Palmer along with Cassidy's only sister, Page Huston, are all proud of her. Cassidy currently works at the 'Corner Nook' in Superior.
In ninth grade, Cassidy started thinking about joining the Air Force. She visited with recruiters and eventually found one she liked, Sargeant Chambers from Grand Island. Cassidy joined the delayed entry program. On April 3 and 4, 2023, she participated in the MEPS program. After successfully passing all the evaluations and testing requirements, she then was allowed to join the Air Force. On Dec. 8, Cassidy Huston signed a six year commitment.
She will be attending boot-camp after graduation in July, which will take seven and a half weeks to complete. Then she will be sent to a tech-school for training in security forces.
Her history teacher Decker Brown and several family members, have been Cassidy's inspiration in joining the Air Force. Mr. Brown shows great patriotism while teaching and gets the students engaged in classroom activities. She's grateful for having the opportunity to have a great roll model to look up to, while attending Lawrence-Nelson High-School. "I pray that I serve in a way that makes him and others proud."
