Travis Gene Cady, son of Larry and Sarah Cady, was born April 4, 1980, in Beloit, Kansas. He was taken from this world too soon on Jan. 13, 2025, in Mitchell County, Kansas, at the age of 44.
Travis grew up in Jewell, Kansas, with his brothers, Jeremy and Kristopher, along with many pets. He enjoyed animals and fulfilled a dream when he got a job at Solomon Valley Veterinary Hospital where he worked for 20 years and he acquired many friends.
Travis (aka Major Art Tillery) participated in SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) and won many awards and trophies. He enjoyed the friends he made, especially his shooting pards Pony Soldier and Dantankerous.
He met Machelle, the love of his life, and they enjoyed many years together.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, along with his four-legged kids, Lady, Montana and Hondo.
He is survived by his parents of Jewell; brother, Jeremy Cady family; Corbin (Alex) and daughter, Emily Cady of Lincoln, Nebraska; Shantel and daughter, Evangelee Cady of Buckeye, Arizona; brother, Kristopher (Lacey) Cady family; Nathan, Olivia and Jaron of Chapman, Kansas; significant other, Machelle Barleen of Jewell; uncle, Joe Sporleder, Beloit; uncle, Duane (Deanna) Cady of Jewell; aunt, Pat Hurd of Plymouth, Nebraska; and his four-legged kids, Josey, Doc, Ranger and Lakota.
Travis’ wish for cremation is being fulfilled. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025. His funeral will be held at the Mitchell County Fair building, 1320 N.
