Rachel Hoffmeyer

Rachel Nadine (Hudson) Hoffmeyer, 81, of Deshler, Nebraska, the daughter of Max and Dixie (Ahrens) Hudson, was born April 8, 1943, in Belleville, Kansas. She died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Rachel grew up and attended school in Munden, Kansas, and graduated from Munden High School with the Class of 1961.

On Feb. 9, 1964, Rachel married Roger Hoffmeyer at the Munden Presbyterian Church. To this union two children were born, Kevin and Kristi.

Rachel worked all of her life taking care of her family. First being the oldest daughter of seven children, she helped care for her four brothers and two sisters. Once she and Roger married, she took great pride in raising her two children, as well as cooking and baking for a host of family and friends every chance she got. Once her children were older, she had various jobs throughout the Deshler Community.

Rachel was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler. She served on many women’s groups within Peace Lutheran.  She was a member of the Sunny South Extension Club. She enjoyed watching cooking shows, Wheel of Fortune, doing word search puzzles, but most of all she liked cooking and baking.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Dixie (Ahrens) Hudson; parents-in-law, Walter and Marie (Vorderstrasse) Hoffmeyer; brother, Wayne Hudson; sister Roberta Craig; and foster sister, Iva Jane Rogers.

She is survived by her husband of almost 61 years, Roger Hoffmeyer of Deshler; son, Kevin Hoffmeyer of Deshler; daughter, Mrs. Steve Spader (Kristi) of Lincoln, Nebraska; brothers, James Hudson of Courtland, Kansas, Fred Hudson of Aurora, Colorado; sister, Mrs. Melvin Keim (Brenda); and brother, Albert Hudson.

Her funeral was held Thursday, Jan. 9 at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, with burial at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
