JC Community Foundation hosts Planned Giving Presentation
The Jewell County Community Foundation hosted a planned giving presentation for residents. The presentation featured guest speakers Betsy Wearing and Gennifer Golden House with the Dane G. Hansen Foundation. The event provided information on how individuals can support their community through thoughtful estate planning and charitable giving, which is particularly relevant as the transfer of wealth is currently underway in Jewell County.
During the presentation, Betsy Wearing, Dane G. Hansen Foundation director of programs, highlighted the peak years for the transfer of wealth are between 2021 and 2030. Between these 10 years, roughly $213 million will transfer from generation to generation. Wearing challenged the audience to consider what capturing even 5 percent of this could mean for the future of Jewell County. This significant shift in wealth presents a unique opportunity for individuals to consider how they can use their assets to make a lasting impact on their community.
"The time to capture the transfer of wealth is now. This presentation was a great reminder that we have a greater capacity to give by giving through our estates than giving when we are alive, and it's never too early to start planning," said Kyra Gritten, Jewell County Community Foundation director.
Gritten continued, "The Community Foundation is a great place to give and allows you to be more impactful in ways you can't in other places. Donors can be more impactful by supporting multiple causes within our community. A one-time gift to the foundation through your will or trust can create a lasting legacy through endowment, ensuring continued support for future generations."
