The United States Presidential Inauguration ceremonies will be broadcast across the world on Monday, Jan. 20. Wherever you are, you can watch this monumental event. Dick’s Place in Lawrence will be hosting a watch party. Several TVs located throughout his establishment, will be tuned into the inauguration. People gathering there will be able to watch events as they unfold throughout the day and evening hours. Dick’s Place will be offering a full menu throughout the day and evening, and the bar will be open for celebrations. The grocery will have normal hours of operation as well.
Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th president of the United States is Trump’s second inauguration as president.
Since 1901, and in accordance with the 20th Amendment of the United States Constitution, the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies is responsible for the planning and executing the inaugural ceremonies of the president-elect and vice president-elect of the United States at the capitol. The event will include a swearing-in ceremony, a signing ceremony, an inaugural luncheon, a passing in-review, a procession and a parade. Inaugural balls are held at various venues before and after the inaugural ceremonies.
The occasion is scheduled to take place on the west lawn of the United States Capitol in Washington D.C. The inauguration will occur on the same day as Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A rarity, this is only the third time that an inauguration has been held on this holiday. During President Trump’s first tenure as President, he did many things for the Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation. Donating millions of dollars in funds to improve the resting site of Martin Luther King Jr., and to his museum which is located on the same premises. More funds were also allocated to several non-profit organizations associated with Martin Luther King Jr. President Trump also gave presidential pardons to several individuals who were convicted of crimes because of their skin color.
Agencies involved with the planning processes and security of the ceremonies include the U.S. Capitol Police, the Washington D.C. metropolitan police and the U.S. park police.
On Nov. 9, 2024, President Trump announced the formation of the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee. An organization dedicated to planning and overseeing the security of the upcoming inaugural event. The committee will be co-chaired by Steve Witkoff and former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler.
