Lawrence Legion welcomes a new year

The American Legion in Lawrence wasbusy on New Years Day. In the morning they served the public with an open buffet including bacon, sausage, scrambled egg s, ham, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, toast and several breakfast deserts. As the morning began, people eager to eat breakfast, filled the dining hall. Laughter and excitement filled the air as everyone enjoyed the good food.

In the afternoon, when the crowd dissipated, they closed later reopening around five. Again the hall filled with people hungry and wanting to enjoy the evening. Chili was served along with specialty burgers. Family and friends gathered and soon the hall was filled with excitement. People played cards, watched games on T.V. and conversed with one another, the hall was filled with laughter.

Many members of the Lawrence American Legion worked hard, diligently preparing and cooking the food for this event.
