Christmas Trees

Christmas Trees . . .

What happens to “real” Christmas Trees after families are through with them every year?

It’s a problem that has seemed to bothere people (mainly in the U. S., I think) for the past 100 years or so.

I don’t want to make fun of the problem, but what cities did with the trees, suddenly no longer useful, is a problem.

The use of artificial trees helped solve the problem as not as many natural trees were cut down to be used in December. But that didn’t solve the problem.

Different cities, or areas came up with solutions, such as ‘mulching’ the tree, that were good for individuals and the environment.

However . . . just last week I saw a short T V news report on how one area was taking care of the discarded trees.

Goats!

Ya, I don’t know the scope or extent of this practice, but it seems that goats love to eat the discarded trees.

It helps feed the animals and it does something to solve a problem.

Sounds like a “win – win’ situation as some people like to say.

I can’t let the passing of former president, Jimmy Carter go without comment.

The man has been getting a huge amount of praise upon his death at the age of 100. The praise is well deserved, as most all of it comes for deeds he accomplished after his term as the U. S. president.

I have often contended that he was “the worse” president in modern history. Of course I didn’t have Obama and Biden to compare him with at the time. However, history is starting to acknowledge that his term as president certainly was not great.

Many (if not most) presidents sort of just ride off into the sunset after their work as president is over. Carter, however, went on to do a lot of humanitarian work after his term as president was over. A lot of this was due to his age. He was young enough to be able to do it. He also had no desire to have his finger in national politics like Obama.

I’ll give credit where credit is due. Carter did a lot of “good” deeds after he was president. However, I still stand by my opinion that he was one of the worse presidents we ever had.

President Biden is certainly trying to leave his mark on U. S. history in his last few days as president. I’m sorry to say that most all of it will turn out to be a negative mark. I read the following recently and want to pass it on because one of Biden’s biggest faults is his inability to tell the truth. What he said in his effort to be re-elected is sorrowful. I’d like to pass this on:

Biden has routinely defended abortion and gay marriage throughout his presidency despite claiming to be a devout Catholic. Church leaders have frequently criticized the president for these stances, even denying him communion once in 2019.

“In November the president awarded former Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her “courage” and fearlessness in leading America towards being “a nation of freedom.” Richards oversaw at least 3.8 million abortions during her 12 years as Planned Parenthood’s president.

“The left-wing corporate media loves to call President Biden a ‘devout’ Catholic. But Biden continues to undermine and attack the teachings that Catholics hold dear at every opportunity,” Joshua Mercer, vice president and co-founder of CatholicVote, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “We believe that all children are made in God’s image and cannot be aborted. Biden believes unborn babies are disposable. Biden’s decision to honor a pro-abortion activist — who was arrested at the Vatican embassy — is just the latest in a long line of reprehensible actions against our faith.”

The Catholic Church has long upheld its opposition to abortion, teaching Christians to value human dignity and life starting at conception. The Church also does not recognize same-sex marriage, upholding the belief that men and women are intrinsically different and marriage is “naturally ordered toward authentic union and the generation of new life,”  according to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Wolfson founded the gay marriage activist organization Freedom To Marry and led the nationwide campaign to legalize the practice at the federal level, along with fighting many legal battles in support of it,  according to Freedom To Marry.”
