Here it is Jan. 5 as I write this and I’m looking at my beautiful decorated Christmas tree. Yes, our Christmas tree and most of the Christmas decorations are still out in our dining and living room. Oh well, after all it’s still within the bounds of the 12 Days of Christmas but I’m soon running out of qualified holiday time. I have visited with a couple of people recently who said last year they left their Christmas tree up year around. I don’t think I’ll do that, but it could make a beautiful Valentine tree, and then come down.
It was just a day or two after Christmas when I noticed some store shelves full of Valentine Day cards and decorations. Talk about pushing a person ahead of the times. I’m surprised they haven’t started displaying St. Patrick decorations yet.
Looks like winter weather has finally arrived, not that I was anxious for that to happen, but we’ve been blessed with decent weather so far. Now it’s like most Kansas January’s were. It’s winter coat time, soup time, stocking hat time, get out the snow shovel time and time to enjoy being near a heat source.
We can look forward to the football play offs, Kansas Day, starting to prepare for income tax filing, and Martin Luther King Day, all this month. However you do it, make the most of this month. After all, it only rolls around once a year.
