Salem Lutheran Church serves Christmas Dinner at the Vestey Center

Members of the Salem Lutheran Church congregation served Christmas dinner for the public at the Vestey Center in Superior. Serving more than a 150 people this year, kept everyone busy. Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and all the fixings, ensured no one left hungry. At times people played the piano, while others told jokes and got to know one another.

The Christmas meal was open to everyone. Especially, those who might need some company, and enjoy the camaraderie of this special event. All were thankful for the generosity and hard work provided by others for them.

On Christmas Day, more than 15 members of the church, along with their family members, preparied and served the meal. Members of this group are: Steve Bargen, Alfred and Janell Hansen, Jennifer Hansen, Pastor Stuart Davis, Norris Eitzman, Dixie Bargen, Sheryl Gebers, Sherry Moehler, Vickie Williams, Margene Eitzman, Donna Wood, Dennis Wood, Carl Moehler and Sharon Bohling. Many other members of the church also furnished food for the event, dropping off baked dishes and goodies to everyone's delight.

Salem Lutheran Church began this project in 1988, and is thankful for the cooperation of the Vestey Center throughout the years. They've only had to cancel their dinner three times. Once because of a blizzard, and twice because of COVID. Salem Lutheran Church members are delighted to have served people Christmas dinner for more than 35 five years.

If you would like to get involved by volunteering or donating funds to any of their charitable events, please contact Salem Lutheran Church. The church is located in between Nelson and Superior, at 936 NE-Highway 14.
