Christmas is here! The true meaning of Christmas is celebrating the birth of our Savior who came to give Salvation to those who believe. With Christmas comes many happenings, memories, thoughts, traditions and sentimental feelings.
It could be cradling a new born baby at a family gathering, the proud feeling seeing a grandchild get up on stage and share a Christmas reading, seeing the excitement of a child opening a present, making a family favorite dessert that grandmother used to make for past family Christmas dinners, sharing memories of past Christmas’ about loved ones who are no longer with us, or maybe it’s singing Christmas seasons with carols with others as visits are made to local nursing homes. It may be sitting by the fireplace listening to a recording of favorite Christmas songs, simply receiving Christmas hugs from loved ones, shopping and finding the right gift for someone or watching little ones portraying a nativity scene at a church program.
This is the time of year to watch a favorite Christmas movie. Mine is “It’s A Wonderful Life.” Every year this movie has to be watched and though I can say about every line, I won’t miss watching it. It may mean listening to some of the favorite Christmas songs over and over again but they are special each and every one of them, such as “Silent Night, Joy To The World,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “ Here Comes Santa Claus” and “Winter Wonderland.” My favorites are “O Holy Night” and “Mary Did You Know?” My least favorite is “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.”
Some people thinking of Christmas say, “Bah Hum Bug” but I think most, like myself, look forward to Christmas and here’s hoping your Christmas was one to remember and cherish.
