Wrestling fans may have noticed, there are some rule changes this season.
Take downs are scored differently this year. A take down is now worth three points. Last year, a wrestler earned only two.
Another scoring change relates to seconds a wrestler keeps their opponent’s back on the matt. Two seconds earns two points, three seconds - three points and four seconds earns four point.
Last year three seconds earned a wrestler two points and five seconds earned three points.
A third major change related to boundary rules. This season if either wrestler has a point of contact (like one foot) inside the circle the play continues even if the opponent is completely outside the circle. Last year, two points of contact were required.
