Wildcat girls continue winning

The Superior Wildcat girls won over the Fairbury Jeffs 50-24 last Tuesday at Fairbury for their second straight win of the season. Superior out scored Fairbury 17 to 7 the first quarter to set the tone of the game. However, the Jeffs rallied and both teams scored 10 points in the second quarter. Superior answered with 16 points during the third quarter while the Jeffs scored only two. Scoring slowed during the fourth quarter. Superior scored 7 and the Jeffs 5.

Reagan Meyer lead the Wildcats by scoring 16 points. She was followed by Sadie Cornell with 13 points, Faith Butler 9, Halle Bargen 8 and Maddie Bargen and Olivia Smullins both scored two points.

Evelyn Timmons, a sophomore, lead the Jeffs in scoring with 11 points.

Standing Bear

The game scheduled with Standing Bear Grizzlies was postponed because of freezing rain and ice in the Lincoln area. Standing Bear High School opened in 2023 in Lincoln.

The game has been rescheduled for Friday,Jan. 17.

SHS versus Wilber-Claytonia

Saturday, Lady Cats easily won over the Wilber-Claytonia Wolverines 73-13. Wilber-Claytonia starters included three freshmen and two sophomores while Superior started mostly seasoned upper classmen.

Three Superior players scored in double digits: Sadie Cornel with 24 points, Reagan Meyer 23 and Halle Bargen 10. Mia Gardner added 7, Faith Butler 6 and Maddie Bargen 3.

The Lady Cats lead 56-7 at halftime, so the second half of the game was played with a running clock.

The Lady Cats are scheduled to play four more games before Christmas break. Tuesday they played Blue Hill at home. Friday they will play Meridian at Meridian. Then Saturday they will play Centennial in Superior with the game scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
