It’s Christmas season and the national media tries to tell us we have to look for the “Perfect” gift for those we hold dear. Well, 35 people well receive a “perfect” gift from people they don’t even know sometime after last week’s Red Cross Bloodmobile visit to Lawrence. The Red Cross left the community with 35 units to be used by the medical community whenever and wherever they are needed.
The Red Cross have been making a December visit to Lawrence for many a year and many folks consider it an ideal time to donate another unit of blood, and to consider it a Christmas gift to an unknown person in need of the gift. As usual, co-chairmen for the visit, Jackie Kirchner and Eileen Mazour, had the event organized and furnished us with the information on the event.
Don Kohmetscher with his 16th gallon and Kay Theer with 15 gallons were the leaders for the most blood donated over the years at this event. They were followed by Cindy Hubl and Darrell Hubl, both with nine gallons. Brett Karmazin completed his first gallon.
Other donors were: Larry Faimon, Bob Kotinek, Mary Kathman, Marlene Hubl, Linda Montgomery, David Kohmetscher, Brooke Mazour, Richard Faimon, Karen Faimon, Barbara Janda, Joe Theer, Walter Buescher, LaMar Van Boening, Judy Menke, Michael Buescher, Lyle Kohmetscher, David Kathman, Charles Carpenter, Janice Pavelka, Donald Faimon.
Duane Brockman, Lynetta Snelling, Michelle Kohmetscher, Ray Ostdiek, Linda Himmelberg, Deborah Van Boening, Doug Hubl, Mary Kathman.
Chairwomen Kirchner and Mazour expressed their thanks to everyone who helped make the event a success in giving that “Perfect” Christmas gift that came from the heart.
