Sarah Josephine (Hatten) Schlotterback (Dec. 17, 1935 to Nov. 24, 2024) was known for her compassionate nature. She was born to Charles and Hazel Hatten of Nevada, Missouri. Her mother was a teacher and father a dentist which helped guide her to a profession in helping others. She attended Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, later attending the School of Nursing at Kansas University where she met and married William Schlotterback, also attending KU medical school. They moved to Lakin, Kansas, where they bought a fold out table and worked out of a small rented room. This was their first medical office. They later moved to the Bellville-Mankato area where Sarah served the community. She was active in the church, community health, she served as the public librarian and was a care provider for many in Mankato.
She is survived by her children, Matthew, Anne Ferguson, Patrick, Mark, Mike and David and her 11 grandchildren, Sam, Summer, Jessica, Andrew, Olivia, Jackson, Sarah, Will, Lexi, Luke and Julian.
Sarah's memory will remain in the hearts of her children and loved ones and all those who have had the privilege of knowing her.
