Superior merchants plan festive Friday activities

Once Upon a Christmas

Preparations are underway for a Festive holiday event in downtown Superior from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and thus far it looks like the weather will cooperate. The day is to be dry with a little chill. The high Friday is forecast to be 46 degrees with a low of 26 degrees.

Central Avenue between Third and Fifth Streets will be closed mid-afternoon and remain closed until after the event. Most Superior stores will be staying open until the 7 p.m. closing. Many will feature food and other refreshments for their customers.

Santa Claus is scheduled to arrive via a Superior Fire Truck at 5 p.m. He will then take up his place inside the Farmers & Merchants Bank building and visit with area youngsters. Mrs. Claus is planning to come along with Santa and visit with folks at Main Street Floral.

A new feature this year will be the Christmas Passport. Visitors to the Superior Chamber of Commerce will receive the passport entry form and a Glo Stick. Then they are to take the passport form around to participating businesses and have it stamped. Completed passports are to be returned to the chamber office and entered into a drawing for 50 Superior Bucks.

There will be roasted chestnuts and cookie decorating at Ideal Market,

Carmen’s will offer an opportunity to sip and shop.

The Superior High School Choir will be roaming the shopping district and caroling.

There will be free popcorn provided by Brodstone HealthCare and a free showing of the movie, An Elf’s Story, provided by Superior Fire Department Auxiliary at the Crest.

Buddy the Elf will be visiting with visitors at the Wildcat Blockchain office.

Brodstone Healthcare will be serving a pulled pork meal.

A snow machine will be operating outside of the Ace Hardware Store and Santa Claus will visit the store.

A new Superior business, Massage by Kelsy, located at 213 East Third will be offering coloring pages for the youngsters and with treats and guessing games.

And while in downtown Superior, visitors may have their picture taken with miniature Highlander cattle in the Home Federal Bank drive.
