What do 1962 and 2024 have in common ? ? ?

Both years saw the Nebraska Husker Football Team break out of losing seasons and both seasons earned the team a Bowl game. In 1962, Bob Devaney and team took the same team the former coach had and earned a winning record for the season and then played against Joe Namath in

the Gotham Bowl in New York City.

In 2024 Matt Rhule earned six wins (at this point in the season) which did two things: earned a possible Bowl game and also gave the team the chance to end a period of losing seasons.

In 1962 students stormed the field in celebration and in 2024 students did the same. Now, there is a big difference in the ways schools manage such events. In 1962, goal posts were often the target of such celebrations and schools often kept several extra goal posts on hand in case students managed to grab them and take them home. Over the years, schools tried to hinder such celebrations.I was glad to see last Saturday the school did not stop students from ‘storming’ the field for that surely adds to the experiences of both fans and players.

I remember 1962 and being part of such an occasion.

Other teams, in other sports have had “storming” games in recent years and I’m glad the football team and fans finally got to experience such a moment.

Speaking of football . . . congratulations to the Sandy Creek football team for winning the Class D-1 championship Monday. After winning most of the season’s games by wide margins the championship game was won by two points.

I’m repeating myself, but I told you the ‘Liberal Left’ would soon find something to try to regain attention to their cause.

    I can’t say it ever stopped, but last week there was another example of the Liberal’s seeking attention however they can.

    It seems the new Congress will include its first transgendered member. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, announced that biological men will no longer be allowed to use women’s bathrooms in the U. S. Capitol.

    Since that announcement came out, there are those who have come forward with statements such as: “Congress should focus on bigger issues than trans-members bathroom choice.”

    The Liberal Left will use any method they can to win on any of their programs. In this case they are using ridicule, comic shaming and what they think is ‘intellectual superiority” in this small battle over “gender identity” issues. They attempt to win many small battles which they think gives them an edge in larger battles.

    You know what ? ? ? It has often worked in the past.

    And, of course, many in the national media, willing and knowingly, try to aid the Liberal Left with their influence in such things.

    For example: in the abortion issue, the national media makes sure any time a women suffers because of a pregnancy connected issue, they make sure they give it a great deal of publicity. They try to give any suffering by the women great publicity so as to generate sympathy for her.

    I have no problem with that, but that is always followed by the suggestion that all of her suffering would be ended by just killing the baby by an abortion.

Nobody seems to care that a human being was just killed.

Another example: Over the past 40 to 50 years there have been times when abortion clinics or abortion doctors have been the target of damage by ‘pro-life’ individuals. These instances (few as they were) were given a lot of publicity. They were wrong and I can’t argue against that.

However, consider the following: since 2022 vandals have attacked at least 95 pro-life pregnancy centers, and 303 Catholic churches. The Justice Department did not charge a single person with any attack crime.

Very, very little has been made public in the national (or even the local) media. Very few people ever knew of the actions of the Liberal Left people.

As I hinted at in the past, look out for the national media in their publications here after an election that resulted in winners not to their liking. They will most likely hand out information they think is good for the Liberal Left and its goals.

“Freedom isn’t Free . . .” as has been noted so many times before.
