Wayne Krenke

Wayne Harvey Krenke was born to Mathilda and Theodore Krenke Nov. 29, 1934, at Heb- ron, Nebraska. He died Nov. 10, 2024 at Thayer County Health Services hospital. He was baptized and confirmed at rural Friedensau Trinity Lutheran Church in Thayer County. He also received his education there and briefly in Deshler High School.

He helped on his parents farm and also worked at several other jobs.

On June 24, 1956, he married Jeanette Ann Hoops at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler. They lived in Fairbury, Nebraska, then Killeen, Texas and Fort Hood, and Bad Nauheim, Germany during two years in the US Army, stationed in Butzbach.

Upon their return home, they moved to a family farm near Hardy and became members of St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Byron. He was a 50-plus year member of Byron Lions Club.

To this union two sons, Brad (born in Frankfurt, Germany) and Todd were born. The family was active in the Byron community and St. Peter Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed in Nuckolls, Thayer and Republic counties.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette; his parents; sister-in-law, Mary Krenke; and brothers-in-law, Tom Struve and Herb Cook; and brother, Ralph Krenke.

He is survived by his sons: Brad and wife, Crystal, of Hebron, and Todd and his wife, Jeanne, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Jessica (Krenke) Lara and husband, Andrew, of Decatur, Texas; Jared and wife, Sarah, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Nicolas Bouray and wife, Jessica, of Owasso, Oklahoma, Miranda (Krenke) Mills and husband, Keith, of Monett, Missouri, Willy and Leann Gann of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Sabrina and Shane Mydland of Phoenix, Arizona; great-grandchildren: Lourdes Lara, Audrey, Caitlyn, Hadley, Cecelia and Davis Bouray, Alexyia, Sullivan and Slade Mills, Landon, Wyatt and Lynlee Gann, Kira and Dillon Marshall; brother, Lavern (Lorene) Krenke of Kearney; sister-in-law, Carrol Struve, of Palm Desert, California; other relatives, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Wayne and Jeanette enjoyed vacationing and they reached 49 states. They liked to travel together. Wayne also was into the tractor drives around the state, enjoyed deer hunting for many years, and went 4-wheeling with friends.

His funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Byron, with Vicar Jack Roegner officiating. Organist was Crystal Krenke. Casket bearers were Dave Wenske, Mike Hoops, Blake Mumm, Zach Mumm, Harlan Eitzmann and Jason Kuhlmann. Burial was at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, rural Byron. A visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, at Price Funeral Home in Hebron with family greeting friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Price Funeral Home of Hebron assisted the family with arrangements. http://www.priceurbauer ahrendts.com
