The ladies of Sacred Heart parish in Lawrence hold a long and honorable history of church support, one of which is an annual fund raising event held in autumn of each year. Over the years, the name has changed from being a "Hunter's Dinner," to the "Smorgasbord" and now to the Fall Festival.
Whatever the name, the event brings parish members together for fellowship, for fun and for a chance to supply funds to help pay for the many charitable events the ladies support and to support the parish with many needed expenses.
Even with a fire that damaged the church building itself, the Sacred Heart ladies moved the event from the parish hall to the Lawrence American Legion Hall and had a successful evening of fun, food and fellowship on Sunday, November 10.
An estimated 200 people came for the supper which featured grilled chicken prepared by Gary and Paula Kohmetscher. Many raffle items had been donated by many supporters of the event and winners will be listed below.
The Altar Society consists of the ladies of the parish and they support Works of Mercy across the diocese and the state as well as support their own parish. They have a proud past in helping with many parish projects needed by the parish.
