Wayne Harvey Krenke was born to Mathilda and Theodore Krenke Nov. 29, 1934, at Hebron, Nebraska. He died Sunday, Nov. 10, at Thayer County Health Services hospital.
He helped on his parents farm and also worked at several other jobs.
On June 24, 1956, he married Jeanette Ann Hoops at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler. They lived in Fairbury, then Killeen and Fort Hood, Texas, and Bad Nauheim, Germany, during two years in the US Army, stationed in Butzbach.
Upon their return home, they moved to a family farm near Hardy,and became members of St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Byron. He was a 50-plus year member of Byron Lions Club.
To this union two sons, Brad and Todd, were born. The family was active in the Byron, community and St. Peter Lutheran Church and lived and farmed in Nuckolls, Thayer and Republic counties.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette; his parents; and brother, Ralph Krenke.
He is survived by his sons, Brad of Hebron, and Todd of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and brother, Lavern Krenke of Kearney.
Wayne and Jeanette liked vacationing and reached 49 states. He also was into the tractor drives around the state, enjoyed deer hunting for many years, and went 4-wheeling with friends.
His funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15, at St. Peter Lutheran Church rural Byron, with Vicar Jack Roegner officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, rural Byron. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today (Thursday), at Price Funeral Home in Hebron. The family will be greeting friends from 4 to 7 p.m.
