Glenna Rae Rose, 75, of Foss, Oklahoma, died peacefully at home on Nov. 3, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of her beloved family and friends.
Glenna Rae Barr was born on March 22, 1949, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Hillary Harman and Omilley Berdine (Kappes) Barr. Growing up in the scenic rural landscapes of Custer County near Putnam, she was a 1967 graduate of Custer City High School.
On Aug. 2, 1969, Glenna married, Curtis Rose. Their journey together began in Weatherford, where Glenna pursued higher education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She graduated in 1970 with a bachelor of science degree in education, a testament to her dedication to learning and teaching. Following college, the couple moved to Mankato, where Glenna dedicated herself to educating children. In 1981, they settled in Foss, Oklahoma, where she continued her passion for teaching at Burns Flat, Butler, and Arapaho-Butler schools, ultimately retiring in 2012.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Glenna found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures. She cherished moments boating and camping with Curtis and their friends. Her love for church, horseback riding, and music echoed her vibrant spirit, and she always held a special fondness for yellow roses, symbols of love and beauty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis; and her infant brother, Charles; and her brother-in-law, GC Rose.
She is survived by her brother, Jerry Barr of Canute, Oklahoma.
The funeral for Glenna was held at 2 p.m. Friday, at the First Baptist Church in Foss, Oklahoma. Interment followed in the Butler Cemetery, Butler, Oklahoma.
