The 36th annual Nuckolls County Pheasants Forever Banquet will be held Friday on the Nuckolls County Fairgrounds. The doors open at 5:30 with a prime rib dinner served at 7 p.m. The purpose of the organization is to improve the local pheasant population. Nebraska pheasant hunting season opens Saturday, Oct. 26 and closes Jan. 31. The daily bag limit is three birds. Only roosters may be shot. The Nebraska Game and Parks agency releases pen-raised pheasants before the regular season opens and again before Thanksgiving. The Kansas season opened Nov. 9 and runs through Jan. 31. Daily bag limit is four roosters.
