A time to remember their service
We've been sitting on this story since last Memorial Day and we still don't have all the pieces. However, we think it appropriate to publish what we have in advance of Veterans Day.
As part of the annual Spring Creek Cemetery Memorial Day Service, two Ruskin area veterans, Gail Kleen and Keith Schultz. were presented Quilts of Valor by Buford Hoyer, commander of the Ruskin American Legion Post.
The quilts were made by a Ruskin area resident, Donna Meyer.
Kleen served in the United States Air Force for four years. He was inducted in December of 1969 and discharged in December of 1973. His years of service included an assignment in Vietnam.
He performed various jobs including repair of reconnaissance cameras, laser guidance systems which guided bombs to their targets and aircraft radar.
We assume Schultz was a Korean War veteran but we have been unable to confirm that.
