Todd Gumm

Todd A. Gumm, the son of Robert and Carolyn May (Bates) Gumm, was born Sept. 27, 1964, at Belleville, Kansas. He died on Oct. 29, 2024, at the Brodstone Healthcare hospital in Superior, Nebraska.

Todd spent his childhood years and received his formal education attending the Mankato schools. Excelling as a left-handed baseball pitcher, Todd continued at Kansas State University for a short time until an injury ended his baseball career. Todd then made his home in Superior where he was employed for a time with Superior Lawn Care, and then went to work for Jamie Blackstone at B-Green Lawn Care, where he was employed for more than 25 years. This job became his passion and love, as he developed many friendships with his customers around the area. Todd thought of and treated Jamie, Heather, Tyler, Dylan and Haley like family.

Todd's kindness and consideration for others was readily evident by the smile he had for everyone he met. He was an avid collector of baseball cards and was a lifelong sports fan. He was especially good at pool and enjoyed taking the time to teach others wanting to learn. In recently years, Todd spent countless hours on Facebook and was often threatened by family that he was going to be sent to Facebook jail. His greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for his family. He especially loved his nieces very much and would do anything for them - including getting them in trouble at times. He possessed a lighthearted disposition and enjoyed joking around with family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Carolyn, in 2012; and his grandparents on both the Gumm and Bates side of the family.

Left to treasure his memory are his father, Bob Gumm; sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Scott Wittke; and his brother, Darrel Gumm, all of Superior; two nieces, Taylor and Ellie Wittke of Lincoln, Nebraska; aunts, Jean Ann Whitaker of Mankato, and Mary Ann Bates of Superior; his uncle, Steve Bates of Wichita; numerous cousins, other relatives and his many friends.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at the Superior Country Club for friends and family.
