During October officers with the Jewell County Sheriff’s Department answered sixty-five 911 calls, eight alarm tests, and responded to 10 animal calls, 10 auto accidents, 28 EMS calls, 20 fires, one fraud incident, one sexual assault, made three arrests, 73 traffic stops, six traffic stops with a K-9 and four welfare checks. A couple of interesting statistics from the sheriff’s office: Underage drinking accounts for 11 percent of all alcohol consumed in the United States. Forty-two percent of all teenagers who start drinking before age 15 will develop alcohol dependence at some point in their lives.
Deputy Elliot Kimminau has been with the department for one year.
