The Superior High School volleyball team advanced to the final round of subdistrict play Monday when they downed the Deshler Dragons 25-19, 25-11 and 25-18 at Shickley. The Wildcats played Bruning-Davenport-Shickley, at Shickley, for the opportunity to advance into the district final. The number 2 seeded Wildcats took on the number one seed Eagles with match results unavailable at press time. Superior defeated the Eagles 3-1 in their lone meeting earlier in the season. Superior sits at number three in the wild card standings while B-D-S is ranked number one. No matter the outcome, both teams should advance to the district finals.
Superior downed Sandy Creek, at Sandy Creek, last Tuesday 25-10, 25-17 and 25 17. The Wildcats closed out the regular season portion of their schedule with 25-21, 25-11 and 25-15 sweep of the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders at Superior Thursday.
Reagan Meyers led the Wildcat killers against Sandy Creek with 21. Halle Bargen dropped down eight kills. Khloe Mundorf accounted for three kills. Ava Kirchhoff and Cora Schnakenberg contributed two kills apiece. Faith Butler added a kill. Meyers sliced through four aces. Halle Bargen lined through three aces. Faith Butler pushed through two aces. Mia Gardner scored with an ace.
Meyers stepped up for 24 kills against GICC. Bargen accounted for nine kills. Kirchhoff loaded away five kills. Butler and Schnakenberg claimed three kills apiece. Sadie Cornell, Jordan Duncan and Mundorf each posted a kill. Meyers threaded through two aces. Butler and Gardner each scored with an ace.
Meyers stood up for 25 kills against Deshler. Bargen handled seven kills. Butler, Kirchhoff and Schnakenberg secured two kills apiece. Cornell and Mundorf picked up a kill each. Bargen landed five aces. Butler and Cornell punched through two aces each. Meyers and Schnakenberg each scored with an ace.
