L-N volleyball

The Lawrence-Nelson High School volleyball team came away with mixed results for their past five matches. They went 2-3 including their stint at the Twin Valley Conference tournament.

The Raiders downed the Blue Hill Bobcats, 15-25, 25-18, 25-19 and 25-18, in three sets at Lawrence last Tuesday. Bruning-Davenport-Shickley hosted a triangular match with High Plains Community Thursday. The Raiders fell to High Plains, 21-25 and 25-22, in two sets. B-D-S swept the Raiders 20-25 and 19-25, in two sets. The Raiders downed Giltner, 26-24, 23-25 and 25-19, in their opening Twin Valley Conference game at Shelton Saturday. Silver Lake handed Lawrence-Nelson a three-set 16-25, 25-13 and 20-25 loss in their second game at Shelton Saturday.

The Raiders closed out the regular season portion of their 2024 season with a triangular match against Franklin and Giltner, Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time.

Kara Menke stood at the net for eight kills against Blue Hill. Josie Hanjy and Hanna Skinner jammed down five kills each. Brynn Harrison had four kills. Codi Cannaday and Maddy Laughlin had two kills each. Harrison and Menke plowed through three aces apiece. Addi McCloskey clipped through two aces. Hajny and Laughlin each scored with an ace.

Menke laid down eight kills against High Plains. Hajny claimed four kills. Harrison and Skinner notched two kills each. Natalie Wehrman had a kill. Skinner lined through two aces. Laughlin and McCloskey scored with an ace apiece.

Menke netted seven kills against B-D-S, Hajny and Skinner added five kills each. Harrison listed two kills. Laughlin had one kill. Skinner zinged through four aces. Laughlin scored with an ace.

Menke hit for 11 kills against Giltner. Hajny secured five kills. Harrison recorded three kills. Skinner entered four kills. Kali Cassel and Laughlin had one kill apiece. Val Koehler pushed through three aces. Hajny, Menke and Skinner each scored with an ace.

Menke shot down nine kills against Silver Lake. Skinner tallied six kills. Hajny put away three kills. Harrison posted two kills. Wehrman had a kill. Harrison and Menke each scored with an ace.

The Raiders once again face a tough road to the postseason. They begin sub-district play Monday in D-2 4 play. Other teams in their bracket are Dorchester, Meridian, Hampton and Nebraska Lutheran. Should they advance to district play, they will likely face the same situation as last season where they face off against the number one seed. Once again their schedule hits their wild card point status hard. Please check the NSAA or Lawrence-Nelson school websites for opponents, match times and locations.
