The Jewell County Farm Service Agency will be holding an election for a new county committee member to represent LAA 3 for a three-year term beginning in January. Jared Nelson has agreed to be the nominee for this election. The following is a biography shared by Jared.
My name is Jared Nelson. I was raised on the family farm in Jewell County. Growing up, I was involved in 4-H and FFA. After high school, I attended Fort Hays State University and achieved a bachelor’s degree in agronomy. I then returned to the area where I worked as an ag mechanic for several years and then for neighbors on their farming operation, while working on our family farm during nights and weekends. In 2013, I married my wife Tricia, and we have been blessed with four great kids: Isaac 10, Carter 7, Jasper 4, and Oakley 2. In 2021, my parents, Kendall and Sandy Nelson, my brother, Jason, and I started Nelson Beef Development LLC as a custom heifer development and backgrounding feedyard. I just recently got to join the operation full time in March of 2024 and I am excited to see our operation continue to grow with our kids alongside.
The townships represented in this local administrative area (LAA 3) include the following: Montana, Richland, Jackson, Sinclair, Grant, Buffalo, Vicksburg, Prairie and Allen.
