RHHS volleyball keeps on rocking, wins NPL title

The Rock Hills High School volleyball team continued their amazing season by winning the Northern Plains League Tournament at Tescott Saturday.

The Grizzlies kicked off their week with a triangular match at Lincoln last Tuesday. They swept Lincoln in two sets, 25-14 and 25-19. They handled arch-nemesis St. John’s-Tipton in two sets, 25-19 and 25-20.

`They played a grueling five match Northern Plains League tournament, Saturday, at Tescott, and emerged with the championship trophy after winning all five matches. The Stockton Tigers extended the Grizzlies to three sets, 22-25, 25-23 and 25-7. The Osborne Bulldogs were swept, 25-17 and 25-23, in two sets. Especially satisfying was the two-set, 27-25 and 25-19, sweep of Sylvan-Lucas, one of the two teams to have beaten Rock Hills this season. Thunder Ridge was swept in two sets, 25-12 and 25-6. The cherry on the sundae was handing the St-John’s-Tipton Blujays another two-set, 25-19 and 25-17, sweep to improve to 31-3 for the season. They are 4-2 against St. John’s this season..

The Grizzlies visited Osborne, Tuesday, for their final regular season matches with Osborne and Stockton. Match results were unavailable at press time.

Savannah Coil played the net for five kills against Lincoln. Halle Mizner backer her up with four kills. Beth Simmelink and Carsyn Vizner added one kill each. Mizner sliced through three aces, Ally Beck and Coil each scored with an ace.

Mizner stepped up for 10 kills against St. John’s-Tipton. Coil contributed five kills. Dacey Beck, Brynn Manning and Simmelink each recorded a kill. Alex Fogo and Vizner had a kill each. Mizner sizzled through six aces. Vizner slotted through two aces.

Mizner held the net for 15 kills against Stockton. Coil slapped down four kills. D. Beck pounded down three kills. Fogo and Vizner accounted for two kills apiece. Simmelink had one kill. D, Beck, Simmelink and Vizner has two aces each. A. Beck, Coil and Faith Reinert each scored with an ace.

Mizner led the killers against Osborne with nine. D. Beck, Fogo, Simmelink and Vizner produced three kills apiece. Coil listed two kills. A. Beck had one kill. Simmelink slashed through three aces. Coil accounted for two aces. Mizner provided five kills against Thunder Ridge. Coil and Simmelink supplied four kills each. Fogo added three kills. Vizner settled for two kills. Manning and reinert had a kill apiece. Vizner slammed through three aces. Mizner threaded through two aces. Coil, Fogo and reinert each scored with an ace.

D. Beck topped the killer chart against St. John’s-Tipton with seven. Coil secured five kills. MIzner added four kills. Simmelink posted three kills. Vizner had two kills. Simmelink whooshed through three aces. A. Beck, D. Beck and Mizner each scored with an ace.

Rock Hills, as the number one seed, will host the regional 1A D1- regional 4 matches Tuesday at Mankato. Participating teams are Rawlins County High School, Central Plains, Lakeside, Ellis, LaCrosse, Ness City, Decatur Community, Osborne, Quinter, St. Francis, Stockton and Greeley County.
