Marilyn Jean DeHart, the daughter of Orville and Goldie (Doggett) Kyle, was born on Aug. 14, 1932, in Belleville, Kansas. She died on Oct. 12, 2024, at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital at Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 1 month, 28 days.
Growing up south of Hardy, she attended country school near there. She married Morgan Powell. Three sons were born to this union, Jim, Harold and Melvin. They divorced and she married Bill Carter who preceded her in death. She then married Jack DeHart, Jr.
She was employed with the Nelson Good Samaritan Home. She also did home care for the homebound in the area. She worked at the Vestey Center and Smith's Café. She enjoyed gardening, going out to eat and visiting with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bill and Jack; sons, Jim and Harold Powell; brothers, Duane, Donald and Victor Kyle; and sister, Lola Willard.
She is survived by her son, Melvin Powell of Nelson; grandsons, Brett (Cai) Powell of Nelson and Chad Graham; brothers, Leon (Vickie) Kyle and Dave (Carole) Kyle all of Hastings; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024) from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Royce Schott officiating.
Music is "Peace in the Valley" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain."
Visitation is held today from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Megrue-Price.
Pallbearers are Melvin Powell, Brett Powell, John Jensen and Leon Kyle.
Interment will be in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.
