Superior Elks Lodge No. 2197 and the Superior FFA collaborated to provide a "Touch a Truck" event at the SCOR ball field Saturday morning.

People of all ages were invited to ask questions and closely inspect a variety of mobile tools.

Included in the display was a nearly new Nebraska Department of Transportation dump truck with a blade used for snow removal; Cash Wenske's race car; the City of Superior street cleaner; a City of Superior utilities basket truck and a truck used to put in electrical power poles; a z-radius lawn mower, combine and side-by-side provided by LandMark Implement; a Nebraska State Highway patrol car; self-propelled sprayer with a 100 foot boom provided by Andrew Miller ; the Superior Public School skidster, two City of Superior ambulances and several fire trucks.

FFA officers and the people who regularly use the equipment were present to answer questions and to supervise the activity.

In addition, Superior ag students had three displays representing what the ag mechanics class is learning about electrical wiring, another one showing different types of plant roots from the plant science class and a third from the welding class.

Participants could practice cutting and stripping the ends of electrical wire.

DeClan Miller, a FFA member, said, "We have had a good turnout, more than I expected, especially since there was a youth football game scheduled at the same time."
