Beautiful weather added to the 2024 Jewell Corn Show

The 82nd Corn Show was a success! The weather was so delightfully cooperative.

The Faith•Farm•Family theme was used to develop several eye-catching booths. There was a giant pumpkin and beautiful flower arrangements among other things in the exhibits.

On Friday, the "Pair-a-Dice" Ride had a record-breaking number of entries, 109!  More than one person commented, "There were golf carts all over!" The High Point Winner of the event was Jeff Cady, Jewell, and the Low Point Winner was Michelle Dougherty, Logan.

Saturday morning started out with the Jewell Corn Show Fun Run or 1 Mile Run. The weather was great for a brisk run, walk or bike ride. Thirty-one individuals thought so! Carson Koops, Downs, crossed the finish line first in the one-mile run. Jaron Brennen , Cheyenne, Wyoming, was the first bike rider to return in the 5 K event. His grandfather, Charlie Reed, Cheyenne, Wyoming, was the first runner and overall winner in the 5 K. All participants received a 2024 Corn Show mug and hot chocolate.

The 70 some entries in the Corn Show Parade were led by the Boy and Girl Scouts with the flag of the United States. The Rock Hills Marching Band played the Star-Spangled Banner. The band was followed by the Grand Marshalls, Jason and Billi Loomis Arasmith riding on a trailer pulled by a tractor driven by Roy Arasmith. Quite a crowd lined the parade route.

Immediately after the parade, some 700 people partook of a beef or pork BBQ dinner. The food was wonderful and quickly served by the organizers. The soup dinner on Sunday was also well attended and the soups and pies delicious!

Nick Pahls organized the 11th annual Corn Show Car Show. There were a couple of rows of entries. The winning entry was shown by Emberlyn Cantu. Alan Snyder was second while Mike Wanklyn was the third prize winner.

There were 32 entries in the Corn Show Road Rally – more than any other year. The Bledsoe Group earned third place and the group headed by Jessie Eilert came in second. Winning the 2024 Road Rally was Deanna Cady's car load of contestants.

There was a variety of vendors in Maag Park plus several games for the younger set. The park was also the location for the 2024 Corn Hole Tournament. The tournament winners: the team of Shane Abram, Glen Elder, and Asa Carr , Beloit, the team of R. C. Sutton, Jewell, and Austin Buisset, Jewell.

Saturday evening the Petersen Brothers entertained a crowd in Maag Park. Finally, the evening ended with the Emmott Bower Band with Brady James playing and singing at the old high school. Good endings for the 2024 Jewell Corn Show.
