82nd Jewell Corn has something for everyone - opens today (Thursday)

Faith*Family*Farm

The 82nd Jewell Corn Show with the theme “Faith*Family*Farm” has literally, something for everyone.  The four days, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th) are packed with a large variety of activities. Just look it over and choose your favorites.

Thursday starts the event off with Exhibits – the long-time staple of the Corn Show. Enter your exhibits from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Jewell Community Center. If you bring something they don’t have a category for, they will make one.  Garden, Farm, Arts, Crafts, Quilts, Flowers and more. Then be sure to view those exhibits from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, or 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday or (your last chance) 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Make sure you pick-up your exhibit at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

At the exhibits, find the Jewell City Booth and pick up your “Buffalo Map.”  There are new buffalo (in all sizes!) around town; Reck, Oliver, Ram, Col. Jewell, Ram, His Tory Buff, Burnie and Rowen.  Find them all.

Friday evening there is another popular event, the “Pair-A-Dice” Ride.  Get your golf cart, ATV or mower and cruise Jewell.  Roll the dice at the stops along the cruise and win prizes. Start the cruise in front of the Jewell Community Center.

Remember to stop by the North Wings Lodge and Restaurant on Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for “Grab-N-Go” bierocks, cheeseburgers or a hot ham and cheese meal.

Saturday is the big day for the Corn Show. All day there will be the “Star Search” for prizes in Maag Park. For those walkers, runners or bikers, be at the Guaranty State Bank at 8 a.m. for the Jewell Corn Show Fun Run or 1 mile run. Hot chocolate at the finish.

Important for your health. Bring you Medicare or insurance card to the Jewell Community Center anytime from 8 a.m. to noon and get your flu and COVID shots from the Jewell County Health Department.

Shoppers – come on downtown from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and find vendors galore.  Or at 9 a.m. on the east side of the Jewell City Office on Delaware, attend or participate in the 11th Annual Car Show. Talk to Nick Pahls if you want more information.

Start lining up for the parade around 10 a.m. at the old high school. Then at 10:30 a.m., watch all the entries move down Delaware Street. This year the Grand Marshalls are Jason and Billi Loomis Arasmith! Congratulations, Jason and Billi – you do exemplify the Faith*Farm*Family theme.

Don’t leave town!  Stop by the Jewell Fire Station for the BBQ!  Look up while you are getting your food and see the Jewell Fire Department’s new buffalo – Burnie!  (there are more and more buffalo around town – get a map and find them.)  Thank you, firefighters for supporting Jewell and keeping us safe!

The Jewell County Sheriff’s Department are coming to the Corn Show with Beer Goggles and “Touch a Truck.”  Find them near the fire department and say thanks for all they do for our community and county.

Have a competitive side?  Head to the north side of Maag Park and enter the Corn Hole Tournament.  It starts at noon. Also starting at noon are less competitive games for the younger set. There will be trailer rides, a duck pond, sand dig, table tennis ball toss, lollipop tree, dime toss, darts, bucket and bean bag toss, Jenga, color wheel, cotton candy, funnel cakes, snow cones, Carousel rides, fun cycles and Banana bikes!

If you have never been to the Jewell Apartments at 107 Lincoln Street, go visit between 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday for a tour of the remodeled apartments.

After 3 p.m. on Saturday, there will be food and drink vendors downtown. Enjoy!

Saturday at 3:30 p.m., it is time for the Road Rally. Get ready to follow directions accurately and win! The Road Rally starts at Lake Emerson.

The Corn Show Saturday Night Program fits the “Faith*Farm*Family theme – it is The Peterson Farm Brothers. The program will be in Maag Park so bring your lawn chair. The program starts at 6:30 p.m.

The day is not over – the Emmott Bower Band with Brady James will be at the old Jewell High School from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Sunday is quieter. There will be a free will donation soup dinner at the Jewell Community Center from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Look over all the activities and events associated with the 82nd Jewell Corn Show – come on out and enjoy!  See you there!
