SHS football downs Fillmore Central 41-21 for second win

The Superior High School Wildcats earned win number two of the season with their 41-21 win over the Fillmore County Panthers at Brodstone Memorial Field Friday.

Superior and Fillmore Central were tied 14-14 at the half-time break. The Wildcats came out reenergized for the third quarter and put 14 more points on the scoreboard while their defense held the Panthers scoreless. Superior led 28-14 going into the final quarter of play. Superior added two more touchdowns while the stingy defense allowed one Fillmore Central score to give Superior a 41-21 win and a 2-3 record for the season.

Lincoln Sander completed 11 of his 16 pass attempts for 82 yards and one touchdown. Kyler Boyles did not complete his one pass attempt.

Dayne Clark reeled in three passes for 48 yards and a touchdown. Kamden Boyles snagged four passes for seven yards. Colten Butler nabbed two passes, good for 26 yards while Trey Blau had two receptions for three yards.

Kyler Boyles converted his 26 carries into 158 yards and two touchdowns. L. Sander kept the ball 10 times while gaining 151 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Kamden Boyles was credited with six carries for 27 yards and a touchdown. Luis Alvarado had a negative three yards for his two efforts. Justice Sander gained two yards with his one carry.

Kamden Boyles turned in five solo tackles and seven assisted tackles. Kyler Boyles handled five solo tackles and six assisted tackles. Clark made four solo tackles and six assisted tackles. Thomas Mathis rang up four solo tackles and four assisted tackles. L. Sander accounted for three solo shots and five assists. Butler and Caiden Smullens contributed two solo tackles and three assisted tackles each. Christian Osweiler landed two solo tackles and two assistsed tackles. Marcus Martin claimed a solo tackles and four assisted tackles. Joe Kerrigan secured a solo tackle and three assisted tackles. Ryan Kramp and Brayton Meyer added a solo tackle and an assist each. Blau and David Hodges had two assisted tackles each.

The Wildcats face a tough test Friday when they visit Doniphan for a game with the 4-1 Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
