Homecoming week for L-N

Lawrence-Nelson Homecoming 2024

This is homecoming week at Lawrence-Nelson. The week is full of activities to liven up the days leading up to the football game.

Each day is a different dress-up day.

Monday was PJ Day.

Tuesday - Adam Sandler Day.

Wednesday there is no school. However, L-N students encouraged visitors to walk through the high school during parent-teacher conferences from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to look at their hallway decorations and vote for their favorite.

Today (Thursday) is Color Wars Day: 6th grade - purple; 7th grade - green; 8th grade - orange; 9th grade - pink; 10th grade - blue; 11th grade - red; and 12th grade - black.

Friday is Raider Pride Day.

On Friday, the parade will line up at 1:30 p.m. on the north side of the elementary. Starting at 2 p.m. the parade will proceed through downtown Lawrence and end at the football field. This will be followed by the pep-rally at the football field.

Friday evening the Raiders will take on Nebraska Lutheran Knights at Lawrence. Kick off is at 7 p.m.

Following the football game will be the coronation of the 2024 L-N homecoming king and queen. The dance will be held at the elementary school until midnight.

2024 Homecoming

Candidates

Josie Hajny is the daughter of Jarrod and Lacey Hajny, and sister to Wyatt and Monte. She is involved in FFA, FCA, One Act, HOSA, Student Council, National Honors Society, volleyball and basketball. Outside of school, Josie participates in rodeo. She is the senior class president and FFA president. She enjoys roping. Her plans after high school include attending college and continuing to participate in rodeo at the collegiate level. She is undecided on a college and major but is considering a major in animal science.

Valentina Koehler is the daughter of Josh and Dulce Koehler and sister to Victoria and Sophie. She is involved in volleyball, basketball, FFA, FCA, HOSA, Student Council, One Act, National Honors Society, National Art Honors Society, Teammates and Speech. She is the vice president of both HOSA and Student Council. She was a representative at the 2024 Girls State. Outside of school, Valentina attends her church youth group and volunteers at Manna Resort Christian Camp. She works at the Corner Nook and Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She enjoys time with her family and plans to attend a Nebraska college where she is considering a major in either elementary education or healthcare.

Kara Menke is the daughter of Jason and Amber Menke and sister to Logan and RaeLeigh. She is involved in HOSA, Student Council, basketball, and volleyball. She is the vice president of the senior class and the secretary of HOSA. Kara enjoys driving around with friends and time with her family. After high school, Kara plans to attend Central Community College where she will complete their dental hygiene program.

Addison McCloskey is the daughter of Dustin and Nicole Cassell and sister to Kali, Hoyt, Cash and Kolter. She is involved in HOSA, volleyball, basketball, track, Letter Club, and National Art Honors Society. Outside of school, she participates in 4-H and CCD. She is the HOSA president and 4-H Club vice president. She enjoys riding horses, shopping, and being with her family. She plans to attend college where she will major in neuroscience.

Cody Brockman is the son of Phil and Amy Brockman and brother to Wyatt. He is the vice president of FFA, and participates in football and golf. Outside of school, he participates in 4-H and enjoys hunting and fishing. He plans to attend Western Nebraska Community College and complete their lineman program.

Sawyer Cox is the son of Craig and Heather Cox and brother to Alexa. He is involved in FFA, FCA, archery, FBLA, Student Council, National Honors Society, Quiz Bowl, cross country, basketball and track. He is the senior class treasurer. He enjoys hunting, trapping, fishing and playing sports. Ater high school, he plans to go into electrical engineering.

Carson Vaughn is the son of Andrew and Kasey Vaughn and brother to Jaxen, Isabella, Jessica and Jordan. He is involved in FFA, basketball, football, golf and dinner theater. Outside of school, he participates in his youth group. He enjoys golfing. He plans to go into diesel technology after graduating high school.

Aidan Zikmund is the son of Zach and Cheyenne Zikmund and brother to Gabe, Devyn, Ian and Charlie. He is involved in football, basketball, track, FFA, FCA and One Act. He is involved in his youth group. Aidan enjoys hunting and playing video games. After graduation, he plans to attend CCC where he will major in diesel technology and eventually work for Landmark.

Homecoming representatives

Freshmen representatives are: Maya Fanning, daughter of Eli and Jaca Fanning, and Kolten Menke, son of Keith and Lindsey Menke.

Sophomore representatives are: Kynnedy Beale, daughter of Richard and Emma Rennick, and Brandt McLaughlin, son of Josh McLaughlin.

Junior representatives are: Raylene Miller, daughter of Brent and Carrie Miller, and Nathan Stokes, son of Mike and Jessica Stokes.

The kindergarten crown bearers are:

Paisley Wulf, daughter of Jesse and Brittany Wulf, and Chance Harrison, son of Heath and Connie Harrison.
