On Monday, county election officers across Nebraska began mailing early voting ballots to voters who completed early voting applications and fulfilled the new voter identification requirement. It was reported a majority of those wanting to vote were following the identification requirement. Voters have two options to fulfill the requirement. Voters can write their Nebraska driver’s license or state ID number on the application or they may submit the application with a photocopy of their acceptable ID.
Most voters are choosing to write the required number on the applications.
Registered voters may still request an early voting ballot by sending their early voting application to their county election office. Oct. 25 is the last day to request an early voting ballot be sent to them. The application form was published in The Superior Express, the official Nuckolls County newspaper on Sept. 19.
The ballots must be returned to the county election office prior to the close of the polls at 8 p.m. central time on the day of the election.
Monday, Oct. 7, is the first day voting can be done at county election offices. Oct. 18, is the last day to register to vote. Election day is Nov. 5.
