SHS volleyball goes 2-1 for week

The Superior High School volleyball team won two of their three matches to improve to 12-3 for the season. They retained the number three position in the wildcard points standings for Class D-1.

The Wildcats visited Sutton last Tuesday. They had their hands full with the Mustangs, coming away with a 3-2, 25-21-22-25,25-22, 25-23 and 15-7 win. Superior hosted Blue Hill and Alma for a triangular match at the high school gymnasium Saturday. Superior swept Blue Hill, 25-16 and 25-22, in two sets. The Alma Cardinals edged out a 2-1, 25-22, 20-25 and 27-25, win over the Wildcats.

Reagan Meyers dominated the net against Blue Hill with 35 kills. Hall Bargen slapped down eight kills. Ava Kirchhoff added three kills. Faith Butler and Chloe Mundorf listed a kill apiece. Cora Schnakenberg plowed through three aces. Bargen and Meyers lined through two aces apiece. Faith Butler scored with an ace. Meyers led the diggers with 22. Bargen and Butler lifted out 14 digs each. Mia Gardner was good for 12 digs. Sadie Cornell listed nine digs. Schnakenberg put away three digs. Mundorf had a dig.

Meyers stood up for 17 kills against Blue Hill. Bargen slammed down five kills. Jordan Duncan had a kill. Butler, Cornell and Meyers each scored with two aces. Bargen popped up 14 digs. Cornell claimed 13 digs. Gardner hit for eight digs. Meyers cared for seven digs. Butler posted five digs.

Meyers led the kill list against Alma with 24. Bargen posted eight kills. Schnakenberg dealt out three kills. Cornell and Duncan had a kill each. Cornell sliced through two aces. Bargen scored with an ace. Cornell pumped up 10 digs. Meyers chipped in nine digs. Gardner tallied seven digs. Butler finished the match with five digs. Schnakenberg had a dig.

The wildcats travel to Fairbury today (Thursday). Superior will compete at the Dams central tournament at hastings Saturday. They play their opening round game of the Hastings St. Cecilia tournament Tuesday.
