SHS football falls on the road

The Superior High School football team was outgunned on both sides of the line as they fell to the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders 49-0 at Grand Island Friday.

Superior couldn't muster much in the way of offense while the defense was unable to solve the Crusader offensive schemes. The loss left Superior with a 1-3 record for the season.

The Crusaders held a 14-0 lead after the first quarter. They put the game away with their 21 point second quarter to lead 35-0 at the half. GICC added 14 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Lincoln Sander completed five of 11 pass attempts for 38 yards. He was intercepted once.

Dayne Clark snagged two passes for 24 yards. Kamden Boyles pulled in two passes for seven yards. Colten Butler had one reception of five yards.

Kyler Boyles rushed 19 times for 66 yards. Sander took the ball nine times for 43 yards. Dominic Page had one carry for minus seven yards. Kamden Boyles took the ball once for a four yard gain. Clark picked up two yards with his sole carry.

Kamden Boyles recorded seven solo tackles and had four assisted tackles. Kyler Boyles made three solo tackles and had four assists. Caiden Smullins turned in two solo tackles and three assisted tackles. Butler and Brayton Meyers contributed a solo and an assisted tackle each. Page had two assisted tackles. Trey Blau and Ryan Kramp each had an assisted tackle.

Declan Miller listed a solo tackle and two assists. Thomas Mathis made a solo tackle and had four assisted tackles. Justice Sander accounted for three solo tackles and three assisted tackles. Canon Corman had a solo tackle and five assisted tackles. David Hodges added two assisted tackles. Marcus Martin, Truett McCord and Brayden Wulf posted an assisted tackle each.

The Wildcats host the (2-2) Fillmore Central Panthers at Brodstone Memorial Field Friday. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
