L-N volleyball scores a win at Harvard

The Lawrence-Nelson volleyball team split their two matches at the Harvard triangular last Tuesday. The Raiders swept, 25-16 and 25-11, in two sets, the hapless and winless Harvard Cardinals. The Kenesaw Blue Devils swept the Raiders, 13-25 and 25-27, in two sets. The Shelton Bulldogs proved to be no friendlier as they swept the Raiders, 17-25, 17-25 and 14-25, in three sets at Shelton Thursday.

The Raiders hosted Fillmore Central and Thayer Central at Lawrence Tuesday with match results unavailable at press time.

Kara Menke topped the kill chart against Harvard with 10. Josie Hajny added seven kills for the Raiders. Hanna Skinner pounded down four kills. Brynn Harrison came through with three kills. Addi McCloskey served up four aces. Hajny lined through three aces. Val Koehler sliced through two aces. Brynn Harrison scored with an ace. Skinner chipped in eight digs. McCloskey lifted up six digs. Menke popped up five digs. Hajny and Koehler had four digs each. Harrison accounted for two digs. Maddi Laughlin had a dig.

Menke listed nine kills against Kenesaw. Harrison and Skinner claimed two kills apiece. Hajny had a kill. Menke lashed through two aces. McCloskey recorded 15 digs. Koehler and Skinner handled three digs apiece. Bayleigh Bohlen, Codi Cannaday and Harrison took care of two digs each.

Menke set up for 10 kills against Shelton. Skinner added four kills. Hajny added two kills. Kali Cassell and Harrison had a kill each. Skinner sent through two aces. Harrison and McCloskey each scored with an ace. McCloskey foraged around for 16 digs. Skinner landed 10 digs. Koehler and Menke added five digs each. Cannaday, Cassell, Hajny and Laughlin acccounted for a dig apiece.

The Raiders travel to Roseland today (Thursday) for a match with Silver Lake. The team competes at the Hampton Tournament Saturday. The Raiders host Elm Creek at Lawrence Tuesday.
