RHHS football dumps Thunder Ridge 66-16

A sluggish first quarter did nothing to deter the Rock Hills Grizzlies as they roared back for a 66-16 over the Thunder Ridge Longhorns at Mankato Friday.

Rock Hills trailed 8-0 at the end of the first quarter. They made some adjustments on offense while tightening up the defense. The result was a 28-16 lead at the half. They piled on 32 more points in the third quarter for a 60-16 lead. The Grizzlies added six more points in the fourth quarter to earn a 66-16 win and a 2-0 record.

Cooper McDill went 0-4 in the passing department with one interception.

McDill carried the ball 18 times for 224 yards and three touchdowns. Isaiah Ridgeway converted his 10 carries into 83 yards and three touchdowns. Eli Vance had two carries for 12 yards. Nate Meyers took the ball twice for four yards.

Camden Ward, Ridgeway and McDill each returned an interception for a touchdown.

Draiden Ault and Jevan Herfel recorded five sacks each.

Eli Whelchel posted seven solo tackles and one assisted tackle. Ward claimed six solo tackles and four assists. Ridgeway made six solo tackle and had three assists. McDill secured five solo tackles and eight assists. Justin Luong put away three solo tackles. Vance made four solo tackles and had an assisted tackle. Christian Wurm tallied two solo tackles and one assist. Aaron Underwood and Layn Badger listed a solo tackle each. Herfel made a solo and had an assisted tackle. Meyers was in on an assisted tackle

The Grizzlies travel to Scandia Friday to play The Pike Valley Panthers. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
