Hastings resident Michael “Mike” W. Harig Sr., 74, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2024.
His funeral will be Oct. 5, 2024, at the Southwood Community Room. 109 Wayfair Drive, Hastings Nebraska from 1 to 4 p.m. Graveside services will be at a later date. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Hastings, is assisting his family with cremation arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to his family for a later designation.
Mike was born Oct. 5, 1949, in Superior, the son of Donald A. and Mary M. (Strauss) Harig. He graduated from Superior High School with the Class of 1968 and attended CCC in Hastings. Mike married Esther P. Schneider on May 18, 1985, in Hastings. He retired from Thermal King and went to work at Menards. He was a volunteer fireman for departments in Fairfield, Superior and Hastings. Mike enjoyed collecting random items such as hats and model cars.
Mike is survived by his wife, Esther Harig; children, Brian (Katy) Harig, Ronald (Lori) Harig, Michael Harig Jr., Adam Harig, and Alyssa (Thaddeus) Johnson; 10 grandchildren, Ana, Ivy, Peyton, Kiley, Sierra, Harper, Freya, Emmett, Merritt and Nicolette; siblings, Larry (Veann) Harig, Gary Harig and Loree Harig; along with nephew, Dean Harig.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dean Harig and Ronald Harig.
