Leslie Vaughn Rose, 86, the son of Pete and Grace (Degener) Rose, was born Aug. 12, 1938, at Rosemont. He died at his home in Riverton Sept. 11.
Les received his formal education attending rural schools and the Eckley High School. A veteran of the United States Army, he enlisted on Nov. 27, 1957, and served his country until his discharge on Sept. 1, 1959. Following his service duty, Les moved to Guide Rock where he was employed with Ely Grain Company. On June 26, 1964, he was united in marriage with Marjorie Jackson. They lived at Guide Rock for nine years and then moved to Riverton to make their home where they owned and operated Rose’s Bar. In November of 1983, they sold their business and Les worked for the next 22 years with Franklin County, retiring in 2005. Even though his was “officially” retired, Les continued to work for the county on a part time basis when they needed additional help.
In his leisure time he pursued a number of activities and interests. He enjoyed both fishing and hunting with family and friends. Les enjoyed time in his shop doing both woodworking and mechanical repair.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Grace and Pete Rose; brother, Verlin; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Everett Moore; and sister-in-law, Karen Rose.
Survivors are his wife, Marge Rose; daughter, Mrs. Trent Allen (Kelly ); sons, Steve Rose; and Dennis Rose and wife, Amanda; and grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Virgil Rose.
A graveside service was at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Riverton Cemetery with military honors.
