This year’s Highway 36 Treasure Hunt begins today (Thursday) and continues through Saturday. There will be multiple locations across Jewell County for this the 19th annual hunt. If this year is like past years, vendors from other parts of the state will bring their wares to Jewell County to market.
More that 20,000 vehicles are expected to cross Jewell County during the three-day event. Some folks will be driving box trucks or pulling trailers in anticipation of finding “must have” or “too good to pass up” treasures.
The event is among the largest junk jaunts in the Midwest.
The event is held each year on the third weekend in September and stretches 400 miles from the Missouri border on the east to the Colorado border on the west.
