RHHS football wins opener against St. John's, 46-0

The Rock Hills Grizzlies made short work of plucking the feathers of the St.John’s-Tipton Catholic Blujays Friday at Beloit.

Rock Hills needed all of two quarters to score 46 points while holding St. John’s scoreless. The mercy rule was invoked and the Grizzlies had an early arrival back home.

Rock Hills sprinted out to a 30-0 first quarter lead while the Grizzlies defense held the Blujays scoreless on the ground. The Grizzlies added 16 more points in the second quarter and walked off with a two quarter win.

Cooper McDill attempted one pass. Unfortunately it was caught by a St. John’s defender.

Isaiah Ridgeway was a force on the ground covering 162 yards on 11 carries. He scored three touchdowns. McDill carried the ball eight times for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Eli Vance had two carries for three yards. Nate Meyers picked up four yards with his lone carry.

Ridgeway recorded four solo tackles, two assisted tackles and an interception. McDill posted six solo tackles and an assist. Camden Ward and Eli Whelchel each contributed three solo tackles and two assisted tackles. Ward added an interception. Aaron Underwood accounted for two solo tackles and an assisted tackle. Draiden Ault, Eli Vance and Ethan Wirth secured a solo tackle and two assisted tackles each. Justin Luong and Gabe O’Connor nabbed a solo tackle each. Jevan Herfel and Christian Wurm had an assisted tackle apiece.

Thunder Ridge visits Mankato Friday with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
