A native of Lawrence, Nebraska, Jolene C. Hoelting, 89, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly Kearney, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024 in Omaha. A Funeral Mass was Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church with Father Joe Hannappel as celebrant. Burial was at the Kearney Cemetery.
Jolene Hoelting died peacefully on the evening of Sunday, Aug, 25, 2024, at the age of 89, after several years of health struggles.
She was the beloved widow of Eldon Hoelting and was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Otto Buescher, her brother, Donald Buescher and her daughter-in-law, Lynn (Rosenlof) Hoelting.
Jolene is survived by her sisters, Geraldine Karmazin and Marita Lukasek.
A devoted mother, Jolene leaves behind her children, Lynn (Cathy) Hoelting of Goodland, Kansas; Don Hoelting of Baltimore, Maryland; Cheryl Hoelting of Omaha, Nebraska; and Michelle (Bill) Hansen of Denver, Colorado. JoJo was a proud grandmother to Trevor Hansen, Emily (Ben) Guidos, Zachary Hoelting, Monique Hansen, Ben Geisberg, Avery Hoelting, Braelyn (Charlie) Morrison and great-grandchildren, Jordy and Scottie Morrison.
Jolene grew up in Lawrence and received a teaching certificate from Kearney State College. She began her career in education teaching at a one-room rural school before marrying Eldon in 1957 as he was completing his degrees at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Then, the newlyweds moved to Campbell and started their family. In 1964, the family moved to Kearney where Eldon and Jolene raised their family. Jolene taught at Northeast Elementary and later worked in the registrar's office at Kearney State College before retiring and volunteering at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Jolene was buried beside Eldon at the Kearney Cemetery.
