Fall Cleanup day on October 20th

The Jewell City Council met last Tuesday at City Hall. Those in attendance were Council Members Don Delzeit, Josh Burks, Gaye Daniels, Derek Birdsell, Bob Freeman and Kristie Anderson, city clerk. Mayor Darrell Bohnert was absent.

James Reed, code enforcement officer, was present to give the monthly report. Reed continues to work with property owners to abate nuisances.

Bret Simmelink provided the monthly maintenance report. Simmelink reviewed all the work he did this last month. He is going to replace the fire hydrant at the Mechanic and Broadway intersection.

Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. She gave an update on the gWorks onboarding progress this month. The Community Center got a donation for the Jack Wilson Memorial. Anderson also gave an update on the schedule for the community center and motel.

The land bank board presented their minutes from the last meeting. They mentioned the projects they are working on.

Burks gave an update about the water and wastewater license.

Anderson presented the dates for the Fall Cleanup day in October. The council chose to hold fall cleanup day on Sunday, Oct. 20. She also presented the 2023 audit draft for the council to review.

For the Community Center, Anderson presented an application for the cleaning job opening. Council members approved Tonya Nash for the community center motel cleaner.
