Motorcycle collides with deer; Superior residents hospitalized

Superior folks hurt in Missouri accident

Two people from Superior, T.J. and Kendra Morris, were injured in an accident involving a motorcycle and a deer Monday morning in Boone County, Missouri.

The accident occurred at 9 a.m. on northbound Highway 63 just north of Route NN.  According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a motorcycle driven by 45-year-old T. J. Morris of Superior hit a deer that ran in front of him. The motorcycle went off the left side of the interstate highway, entered the median and dumped both Morris and his wife, Kendra Morris, 45.

Both were injured and taken to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

After the accident, Kendra told friends “We were driving around 70 miles per hour when we hit a deer. Everyone that knows TJ will not be surprised to hear that as we were sliding down the interstate, he wrapped me up to protect me. I came out with some road rash and stitches in my elbow. TJ took the brunt of it and has road rash over most of his body including his face. But we are okay! We are alive and that’s all that matters.

They were accompanied on the holiday motorcycle trip by Kendra’s brother, Jason Rempe, and his wife, Shanel, of Aurora, Nebraska. The Rempes watched the accident unfold.

Kendra was released from the hospital later Monday but it is thought TJ would remain hospitalized for a few days.
