The Lawrence-Nelson High School volleyball team is set to open their 2024 season Saturday at the Axtell Invitational. It is a four-team match.
The Raiders face an uphill battle each year to reach the state tournament round. Their schedule is heavily weighted with D-1 and C-2 schools. They play 10 D-1 schools, 1 C-2 and 1 C1 while competing against 5 D-2 schools.
The Raiders play above their weight and struggle to obtain enough wild card points to assist in post-season play.
The senior class members of the team are Addi McCloskey, Val Koehler, Hanna Skinner, Josie Hajny and Kara Menke.
There are no junior class members on the team.
Natalia Wehrman, Paige Huston and Hadley Ostdiek are the sophomore class representatives.
The freshman class has Kali Cassell, Kara Peters, Bayleigh Bohlen, Ella Skinner, Kimber Buescher, Prelsea Adams, Brynnly Harrison, Codi Cannaday, Maddi Laughlin, Victoria Koehler and Maya Fanning as its representatives.
Curt Bolte is the head coach. Dina Hoelting serves as the assistant coach.
Student managers for this season are Stella Williams, Allison Harrison and Adryianna Mazour.
