Reinke offers welding class
Reinke Manufacturing Co., Inc, of Deshler is partnering this school year with Superior Public Schools to offer welding classes. A longtime Reinke employee and Nuckolls County resident, Junior Drohman, will be teaching the class along with Superior’s Brent Thomas and Seth Going.
Drohman, has more than 45 years work experience at Reinke. After being a weld supervisor, Drohman decided “at this point in my life, I just want to help,” and his welding experience has led to teaching. He taught a welding course this summer at Deshler Public Schools and also teaches a group of Thayer Central students that come to Deshler during the school year. The curriculum offered is built around the AWS standards and does have some focus on irrigation weld. “Reinke would like to see these well trained students join their work force,” said Drohman.
Chris Roth, Reinke president, said, “We are pleased to continue to develop programs related to industrial arts and trade skills.”
Superior currently has a welding shop with five welding booths. Reinke is lending the school two industrial welders as Superior prepares to upgrade the shop area. John Whetzal, school superintendent, said, “If this program grows as I anticipate it will, we will need to complete the upgrades sooner rather than later. These are the kinds of problems that you like to have.”
Reinke is the world’s largest privately held manufacturer of center pivot and lateral move irrigation systems.
